Sharing the Innocence

While there is nothing like the bright eyed smile of a child, one of my favorite emotions to share in my photographs is all natural, pure innocence. I think that is why I love my Purely Me sessions so much! This isn’t your typical “say cheese” photoshoot. Purely Me is all about capturing the child in the most simplest way. What’s My story?

Your South Jersey Photographer

Hello my lovelies. Right now, you may be asking yourself, who is this photographer, or perhaps you already know me…I mean after all, I have been around in the photography world in Salem County, for nearly a decade. Well…ya see…over the past decade I have been so consumed with building my business, that I kept procrastinating on working on my website, and making it true to my brand. So, here I am fulfilling my New year’s resolution, of FINALLY updating my site, and yes….blogging!

I’m Maureen, a funny (at least I think so) mother of 4 with a fantastic husband. (insert rolling eyes Emoji here) I’m a photographer by default. Wait did she just say default? Yup….see I went to college on the 5 year plan, and became a teacher. After the birth of my first born, I didn’t want to go back to work…..so I stayed home with her. 22 months later, kid number two takes up residency in my uterus, and I found myself booking a maternity session with a local photographer that some of my friends had used. Fat, swollen and tired she made me feel like a rockstar. I left the session thinking….gee maybe I should pick up that Canon Rebel I got for Mother’s Day. So I did. My son was born and I started taking photographs of him and my daughter, capturing those blink of an eye moments….Those first images REALLY SUCKED, but I LOVED it! I began posting my photos on myspace (yes I’m that old) and for some reason people began noticing my images and started asking me if I could take photos of their families. So I did..

Where it Began

In 2008, I started my home studio. I would kick my family out of the house, my clients would come in we would shoot and I would pack everything back up and the family would come home. It was great and cozy, but once I started hitting 2-3 sessions per week, it was very inconvenient. So how do I fix that? I start looking for a studio space in South Jersey. I found my first space in Carneys Point, in August of 2009 and opened the doors October 1, 2009. It was honestly the best move I made! Over the course of six years, I outgrew that space and moved to beautiful Historic Woodstown, in 2016. My forever home! I LOVE it here!

Why I love Photography

For me, photography is truly my passion. Much more so then learning all about website building…I’ll tell ya that! Haha. I, along with my clients, share generally happy moments. My photographs put a time stamp on photos and preserve memories for many generations to come. I also love to learn, and I am very goal-oriented. Having a zealous appetite has lead me to where I am today! There is no challenge too big or small.

Over the past 10 years I have seen a lot, learned a ton and had many challenges. But I never faltered. So….here’s to the next ten years, blogging, learning website code and SEO, and continuing to be the BEST Photographer in South Jersey!
